FortiGate foundations: first three lessons

Understand the decision. Follow the packet. Build your first isolated lab.

Guided analysis · conditional practicals · appliance runtime validation pending

Foundations: guided analysis. Animations are authored examples, not captured appliance results. Practical exercises are conditional drafts: run them only after exact-build licensing, isolation, private management, protected backup and baseline acceptance checks pass. No FortiGate/GNS3 appliance runtime has been validated for this course.

Learn to explain a decision, trace both directions, and separate application access from name resolution. Three consecutive lessons, one consistent isolated topology. Now includes 39 inspectable packet steps: 12 in lesson 1, 13 in lesson 2 and 14 in lesson 3. Explorers start paused and offer 6, 10 or 15 seconds per step; films use six seconds per step.

Start safely

Read the separate lab setup first. If the runtime gate is not met, use guided analysis and leave observations blank. Use the isolated workspace guide before practical work. Complete all acceptance gates before applying any lab change.
