QCS commands — draft endpoint references, not appliance configuration Read setup.html and lesson explanations before use. Actual FortiOS build required. Prompts are NOT commands. Ubuntu: user@LabClient:~$; FortiGate: hostname #. FortiGate top-level read-only: get system status (inspect privately, share only build). FortiGate top-level read-only: show system interface (map locally, do not share full output). Ubuntu read-only: ip -br address; ip route; ip route get . Ubuntu server: python3 qcs-http.py — fixed response on 10.77.20.10 TCP 8080. Ubuntu client: curl --noproxy "*" --connect-timeout 3 --max-time 5 --include http://10.77.20.10:8080/ Ubuntu server second terminal: ss -ltn — numeric TCP listeners. Ubuntu client local name mapping (NOT a DNS test): curl --noproxy "*" --connect-timeout 3 --max-time 5 --include --resolve app.qcs.test:8080:10.77.20.10 http://app.qcs.test:8080/ Only lesson 2, verified manually owned route, substitute real S_IF: sudo ip route del 10.77.10.0/24 via 10.77.20.1 dev S_IF Exact inverse after successful deletion: sudo ip route add 10.77.10.0/24 via 10.77.20.1 dev S_IF No other metrics/table/flags or fallback route permitted for this exercise. Ctrl+C in helper terminal stops only that foreground service. No global session clearing, factory reset, firmware change or broad allow rule. ADDITIONAL READ-ONLY NEIGHBOR CHECK Ubuntu client/server: ip neigh show Shows local neighbor cache; a missing/cached/failed entry is not a firewall-policy verdict. No cache flush, packet capture, policy mutation or new DNS server is instructed. EXACT COMMAND-LOCAL MAPPING FAULT (lesson 3) Only after 10.77.20.99 is verified unused in the isolated project: curl --noproxy "*" --connect-timeout 3 --max-time 5 --include --resolve app.qcs.test:8080:10.77.20.99 http://app.qcs.test:8080/ Restore by running the same command with mapping address 10.77.20.10. This edits no hosts/resolver file and is NOT a DNS-server test. The .99 address also falls outside the baseline server /32 permit; a failure cannot distinguish policy from other failures merely from a timeout.
